Chief Officer
The Chief Officer is the ship's second-in-command after the Captain and plays a crucial role in vessel navigation watch duties and ensuring the safe operation of the ship. Responsibilities include overseeing cargo operations and planning, maintaining cargo gear, ensuring vessel stability, managing safety equipment, crew scheduling, compliance with maritime regulations such as MARPOL, SOLAS, and STCW, and acting as Ship Security Officer. The Chief Officer also leads the deck department and ensures welfare and safety of the crew while handling administrative tasks related to supplies and cost control.
